A note about pricing:
Pricing is figured on a variety of factors;
First is the cost and amount of the fabric. A large doll takes more fabric than a small doll. Premium fabrics like silk, wool, batiste and organdy are more expensive. Vintage fabrics quantities are limited and may be hard to find in good condition.
Second is the time involved in making an item. The smaller the doll, the more time consuming is the construction. To get a perfect bodice I often have to make it several times. You can not remove a seam on these tiny pieces. If you make a mistake you must throw it away and start over. The cost of zippers, buttons and trims add to the cost of a garment. Flowers can be as expensive as 5.00 each and beaded trim easily costs around 25.00 per yard. Hand making flowers or hand beading adds cost as it is very time consuming.
Third is accessories. Hats , purses, gloves stockings and jewelry are very time consuming and hardware, findings, beads and trims can be very expensive. The multi- piece outfits will be more costly than a single dress. I do a variety for a variety of budgets.
Last note is about patterns and construction, There are dolls with many inexpensive patterns available to use. There are dolls with no patterns available for them at all. Sometimes the available patterns do not have much style or do not fit properly. Some vintage patterns are hard to get and expensive. I often make my own patterns. This is time consuming but you get a perfectly fitted garment. My e-bay account name is Torigian. I have lots of feedback for the doll fashions that I have sold there. Please take a look. You will notice that everyone comments on how well constructed my garments are. I am very picky and want every stitch perfect. This is not always attained but I don't sell anything thats not good quality construction and a good fit.
